Refractory Panel Replacement

When the refractory panels in a factory-built firebox crack all the way through, crumble, or start to bow, sealing is no longer the answer — they have to be replaced. Most manufacturers draw a clear line: once a crack opens past their stated threshold, the panel has lost the integrity it needs to shield the metal firebox and framing from the fire, and a fire-safe firebox depends on panels that are intact. Prime Chimney Experts replaces failed panels to that standard, because a prefab firebox is only listed as safe to burn when its lining meets the manufacturer's specification.

Replacement is model-specific work. Prefab fireboxes are built to particular dimensions, and panels are made to match an exact make and model — a near-fit panel leaves gaps that defeat the purpose. We identify the precise unit, source the matching replacement panels, and remove the cracked ones carefully so the firebox shell isn't damaged in the process. Getting the right panels for the right firebox is the whole job; everything else follows from it.

The new panels go in tight to spec, with no gaps behind or between them, so the heat barrier is continuous again and the unit's certified fire rating is restored. A panel that's loose or poorly seated lets heat slip past at the edges, so we fit them the way the manufacturer intended — snug, supported, and sealed where the spec calls for it.
