The Challenge
A 1960s Dallas home had a chimney with severely spalled brick from the roofline up. The crown was crumbling, multiple bricks were loose, and the homeowners were no longer comfortable using the fireplace.
Our Approach
- Performed a Level 2 inspection">Level 2 inspection to document the failures
- Took down the chimney to a sound course below the roofline
- Rebuilt with new brick matched to the existing exterior
- Installed a properly pitched concrete crown
- Added a stainless cap, chase cover, and new flashing
The Result
The chimney was rebuilt to current code and looks better than it did decades ago. The homeowners are using the fireplace safely again and the home’s curb appeal improved.
